Android O will be the last major update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T

OnePlus has already confirmed that the OnePlus 3 & 3T will be get Android O update. And today it announced that Android O will also be the last major software update for the OnePlus 3 & 3T.

OnePlus' Head of Product confirmed that both OnePlus 3 & 3T will get Android O at the earliest, but the sad news is that it will be the last major software upgrade for the devices. This means Android P will not make its way to OnePlus 3 & 3T. However, the both devices will continue to receive security updates for the "foreseeable future".

While OnePlus 3 is old at this point, the OnePlus 3T is just nine months old, and users will be disappointed at this news. Even with the release of Android O, OnePlus 3T software upgrade support will be little over a year, which is not much. Earlier OnePlus dropped a bomb on OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X users, when it said it won't be providing their devices Android Nougat update.

OnePlus also said that it will be shifting its open beta program to the OnePlus 5, once Android O is released for OnePlus 3 & 3T.
